Light It Up is an operations app run by BH Web Solutions for an equipment rental business. Only the people the business gives a login to can open it.
What is kept
- From the business: its name and contact details, the names, emails and phone numbers of the people who log in, its equipment, jobs and customers.
- From drivers: the photos and videos they take at a delivery or pickup, the time they were taken, and (if the phone allows it) where. Fuel readings on generators.
- Phone calls: when the business switches the phone line on, calls to its office number are logged, and may be recorded and transcribed after an announcement at the start of the call.
- Technical: a scrambled (hashed) form of the internet address a request came from, used only to stop abuse. One login cookie. No advertising or tracking cookies.
How it is used
Only to run the business's rentals: to plan jobs, show drivers where to go, keep proof of what was delivered and picked up, and follow up calls. Nothing is sold or used for advertising.
Who else sees it
Only the business itself. Companies that help run the service handle the data to provide it: Cloudflare (hosting, database and files) and, for the phone line, Twilio (calls and recordings). Information may be shared if the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting
Records are kept while the business uses Light It Up. A business that stops using it can ask for all of its data to be deleted.
Security
Passwords are stored scrambled, never in plain text. Every page uses an encrypted connection (https). Photos and recordings are served only to people logged in to that business.
